A friend pointed out that Priceline.com - and Captain Kirk - will sell the same airline ticket as Expedia minus the $5 booking fee. Not a lot of savings, but certainly easy enough to do. Notice that Priceline is running TV commercials touting this savings. Makes you wonder how long until Expedia follows.

A great place to visit is a small Colorado mining town turned destination ski resort named Crested Butte. It’s located in south central Colorado, about 30 miles south over the mountain range from Aspen and Vail and equally as far south of their prices. It’s an unspoiled town of 2000 people that features excellent skiing, excellent dining, and a family friendly atmosphere - all at an affordable price. The ski resort was purchased by new owners in 2002 and has undergone a major renovation. This next fall, direct flights should be available from Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and Atlanta. You fly into Gunnison (GUC) and take a 30 minute shuttle ride up the valley to the resort. Hopefully one of the CME sponsors will schedule a meeting here in the near future. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a fun place to take your family skiing that won’t break the bank, Crested Butte is a great choice.

The options for insurance at the rental car counter can be confusing and expensive, particularly if you keep the car for several days. For advice on this issue, Insurance.com has a brief article which can be found at the link below. The short answer is to purchase an insurance policy for your own car that also applies to a rental car. Check with your insurance agent regarding portability of your policy. In addition, some credit cards also provide insurance. If anyone has had experience with this issue, please post a response. Thanks for reading.
